You ask, "How can I say that and still dedicate myself so passionately to this work?"
Because you aren't saving the world, you're saving yourself. You're setting the stage so that if the worst does happen, you can look yourself in the eye and know that you did more than nothing. You're expanding your capacity to love. You're being young, experiencing the energy and enthusiasm and excitement, while you still have it. You're doing what you know how to do, and that is enough. You are the work.
Phil, thank you so much for this! You are putting words to all the things I already know and yet, I get goosebumps reading this. Thank you so much for the reminder of what we are (actually) here on Earth to do. <3
Thank you for sharing this confession with us! It took real courage to show your vulnerability, doubt, and humanity. By doing so, it helps us realize we're not alone and there's nothing wrong when we experience similar thoughts and feelings. Thanks also for explaining how, rather than bringing us down, these experiences can be used to bring strength to keep us going in the face of some dire predictions. After all, they're predictions and, as you note, we don't actually know what the future will bring. When we decide to accept, surrender, and love we can have a greater impact than we can even imagine.
Exactly!! I'm so glad it resonated Sarah and I also agree that by sharing our feelings and experiences with one another, we can grow our resilience together!
I know, it's a real thing! I don't think I have actual postpartum depression but I've heard from so many other mothers that the first few months are tough regardless. Accepting :) And oh man, please don't tell me about what you've learned working at the airport. I'd rather not know...
