You ask, "How can I say that and still dedicate myself so passionately to this work?"

Because you aren't saving the world, you're saving yourself. You're setting the stage so that if the worst does happen, you can look yourself in the eye and know that you did more than nothing. You're expanding your capacity to love. You're being young, experiencing the energy and enthusiasm and excitement, while you still have it. You're doing what you know how to do, and that is enough. Thank you for sharing this confession with us! It took real courage to show your vulnerability, doubt, and humanity. By doing so, it helps us realize we're not alone and there's nothing wrong when we experience similar thoughts and feelings. Thanks also for explaining how, rather than bringing us down, these experiences can be used to bring strength to keep us going in the face of some dire predictions. After all, they're predictions and, as you note, we don't actually know what the future will bring. When we decide to accept, surrender, and love we can have a greater impact than we can even imagine.
