This is a great summary of the different emotional takeaways the movie can trigger! My husband went to bed half-way through the movie because he was overwhelmed by the doomsday messaging and didn't want to subject himself to it. I watched the entire film, but felt so drained and unmotivated after. The only part that felt at all motivating was Jennifer Lawerence's line of gratitude at the end about being glad they at least tried. But all in all, climate is not talked about enough especially in mainstream contexts. There is so much room for more narratives and perspectives around it. While it might have felt upsetting for some, I could see how it might be a good wake up call for others. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Hi Lindsay! I'm so glad you like the article and thank you for sharing your experience. I think it's interesting to take inventory on how certain messages affect people differently and it sees like your husband had a similar reaction to mine, ha! I know, I agree with that too, there was a sense of camaraderie that was hopeful but then you also think -- OK, but the trying didn't lead to much, did it? I think the message is to keep trying and hopefully we'll be able to wake the world up in time to gear the ship in a different direction, and something tells me we will :)
