The longer I live, the more I understand that richness comes from scaling back and getting to the core of things. To simplify, make life easier, and understand that gold is to be found in most places, if you know how to look hard enough. Or should I say effortlessly enough?
Because the less we try, the more we allow ourselves to simply be. And it’s the essence of being that magic gets wings to fly.
Ever since we moved from New York City last summer and replanted ourselves in the Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts, it’s become increasingly clear to me what life should be about. When we finally made the decision to leave our beloved New York, it was from the insight that when you remove certain things (let’s say, the business from a city, no matter how glorious that buzz can feel), you create space. And in that space, new thoughts, insights, and ideas may appear.
And if nothing else, there’s room to breathe.
So this past year, that’s what I’ve done — I’ve been BREATHING! It doesn’t mean I’ve stepped down from my burning desire to create impact in this world. On the contrary, by removing the buzz, I’ve been able to focus in even more, and spend my energy where it truly matters.
So this week I wanted to share two recipes I've been living by lately. One is my recipe for a rich life, the other is a (super simple) recipe for the richest, most delicious vegan cheese sauce you can ask for.
By all means, try them out and see what you think!
Recipe for a Rich Life
Curiosity
Radical presence
Healthy boundaries
A purpose that’s bigger than you
Nurturing connections
Joy
Be intentional with all these and mix on repeat!
Recipe for Delicious Vegan Cheese Sauce
Tahini sauce
Lemon juice
Water
Nutritional Yeast
Salt
If desired: a pinch of chili pepper and nutmeg
Mix until you like the consistency and flavor. You can’t do it wrong; just add more of something and see if that makes it more to your liking. Learn as you go! Serve with pasta. I prefer gluten-free pasta, but the choice is yours!
Thank you for sharing, I might try the cheese sauce. Moving is always life changing and mind altering. Beautiful pictures too.
