Say Hi to Matthew!

Dear Climate Optimist community, you may have noticed that last week’s issue was written by someone else. Matthew Gutierrez is our new contributing journalist and we’re so happy to have him here!

Coming up, Matthew will help collect stories for our Optimist In Action Series, where we feature people, companies, and organizations working for positive change. I wanted to quickly introduce him so that we all can get to know him a little better. Please take a second to comment with a welcoming “Hi!” 😊

About Matthew

Matthew Gutierrez is an environmental advocate with experience writing for The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. A native of Princeton, New Jersey, he attended Syracuse University, where he fell in love with the natural beauty and diversity of New York State.

He enjoys spending time outside in nearly any capacity, as long as fresh air and greenery are involved. In 2021, Matthew and his partner traveled in a 1995 van to explore America's beautiful national parks. He's also a member of Brooklyn's Prospect Park Alliance and the Nature Conservancy.
